My Motivations

Living and volunteering in Africa has been a lifelong dream of mine.   I am so excited to take on this adventure – to make a change and be changed in the process.    While I am hoping to make an impact on the lives of my learners and maybe even their community,  I pray that the experience will help transform me.   One of my favorite Jars of Clay songs, “Worlds Apart” expresses exactly what I am hoping this experience will do : take my world apart.

As I learned from my time in Thailand, teaching in Namibia will give me a unique cultural opportunity that I would never get if I was just passing through. I want to step out of my comfort zone and experience life in an underdeveloped country.

I look forward to the moments of challenge and frustration, the feelings of satisfaction and awe, and the intense learning curve that lies ahead!

Hi Tan, Well I am sitting looking at one of the most motivating Blogs I have seen in awhile. I am so proud of you. Life is short so enjoy every moment that you can. No amount of bugs, dirt roads or heat should ever hold you back. Your dream is being fulfilled. You are one of a kind. So many could dream a dream, not many can make it come true. We miss ya lots, but on the other hand we will grow also because of your adventure. Thank you for being you. Love, Hugs and Kisses….Dad, Jan and of course Molly J(Molly is on the road to recovery, a Hugh Diet while we are away) LOL
